Affected by the COVID-19 epidemic, the sales of real estate Forest City in Johor have fallen to a low point in the past 18 months.

Country Garden Holdings has reduced the original 1,700 Malaysian employees in 2019 to 500 in June 2021. Only one-third of employees continue to promote business.

According to Hong Kong’s South China Morning Post, this is the third round of employees downsizing in 18 months since 2019 by Country Garden.

One of the salesperson also told that Forest City had sold less than 10 real estate units in the past 18 months.

Country Garden is the largest foreign real estate developer in Malaysia. However, in the face of the epidemic, Country Garden’s Forest City project on the border between Malaysia and Singapore has almost slowed its business in the past two years. The manpower and sales team size has been reduced by two-thirds.

Additionally, Country Garden's spokesperson in Hong Kong did not respond to this report.
